Message from the Head of the Library

A message and commitment from the Head of the UIN Mataram Library to promoting transparency and public access to information.

Message from the Head of the Library

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

All praise is due to Allah SWT for His infinite blessings and mercy, through which the UIN Mataram Library Website has been established as a gateway to information and services, connecting our academic community with the ever-evolving world of knowledge. This website reflects our commitment to developing a library that is adaptive, inclusive, and responsive to the challenges of higher education in the era of digital transformation.

For us, a library is far more than a repository of collections or a provider of circulation services. It is the intellectual heart of the University, a place where knowledge is preserved, created, and disseminated; where ideas, scholarly traditions, and innovation converge. It is here that learning is strengthened, research is grounded in scientific inquiry, and critical thinking flourishes as an essential foundation for advancing civilisation.

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, Open Access, and Open Science has fundamentally transformed the way knowledge is created and utilised. Amid the overwhelming flow of information, the greatest challenge is no longer the scarcity of information but the ability to distinguish credible knowledge from misinformation. Therefore, today's libraries must do more than embrace technological advances; they must lead the transformation of academic culture by promoting information literacy, research integrity, and the ethical and responsible use of technology.

As an integral part of UIN Mataram, we envision the library as a comprehensive knowledge ecosystem that integrates learning, research, scholarly publishing, research data management, knowledge preservation, and the dissemination of academic works. More importantly, the library serves as a collaborative space where faculty members, students, researchers, librarians, and the wider community come together to generate ideas that benefit society, the nation, and humanity. Inspired by the spirit of Iqra' ("Read"), we believe that reading is not merely about acquiring information, but about cultivating wisdom, broadening intellectual horizons, and creating lasting value through knowledge.

This website serves as the gateway to our wide range of modern library services, including the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), digital collections, the institutional repository, access to electronic journals and e-books, information literacy programs, and research support services. We are committed to ensuring that every member of our academic community has seamless access to high-quality scholarly resources and comprehensive support throughout the research lifecycle, from literature discovery to the dissemination of research outcomes.

Looking ahead, the UIN Mataram Library is committed to becoming a strategic partner in enhancing educational quality, strengthening research productivity, increasing scholarly publications, and advancing the University's academic reputation. A library's success should not be measured solely by the size of its collections. Still, by the impact it creates: nurturing lifelong learners, empowering productive researchers, fostering academic integrity, and inspiring innovations that contribute to society and the advancement of civilisation.

We warmly invite our students, faculty members, researchers, alumni, partners, and the wider community to make the library their intellectual home. This place welcomes collaboration, dialogue, and the creation of knowledge. With this shared vision, we are confident that the UIN Mataram Library will continue to grow not only as an institution that adapts to change but also as a catalyst for the advancement of knowledge founded upon the values of Islam, scholarship, and humanity.

Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Dr. Fadrik Adi Fahrudin, M.Pd.
